As a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder and Certified Financial Planner™ practitioner, CFP®, Barry provides our clients with trusted advice based on sound financial principles and analysis. With 20+ years of experience, Barry has managed $100M+ in client assets and has advised on $75M+ in acquisitions/divestitures of client owned businesses.

Barry takes a comprehensive approach to portfolio construction and financial planning, by integrating each aspect of a client’s financial picture into his overall analysis. Barry develops an extensive financial road-map by reviewing his client’s investment assets, outstanding liabilities, future cash flow requirements, employee benefits, insurance needs, education goals, and future windfalls. He is willing to work closely with his client’s other professional advisors in order to coordinate portfolio selection, income tax, and estate planning needs. Barry believes this “holistic” approach paints a realistic financial picture for clients and gives them the confidence that comes with preparing for the inherent risks of the future.

Barry attended Florida State University where he graduated with a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelor’s in Finance. He is a member of the CFA Institute and serves as a member of the board/investment committee for United Methodist Church Foundation Investment Management. As a member and mentor at the Entrepreneur Center of Nashville, Barry helped develop funding strategies for businesses in the early stages of development.

CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER & CHIEF COMPLIANCE OFFICER

Jennifer joined Gunderson Capital Management in June of 2022, as Chief Operations Officer and Chief Compliance Officer. She has been in the financial industry for over 20 years. She began her career at a large bank in the Personal Trust Department and then moved to Endowment & Foundation Trust Services.

After four years with the bank, Jennifer was recruited by a large Registered Investment Advisory firm, where she served as a Portfolio Administrator, Director of Operations, and Chief Compliance Officer.  After spending 18 years at the firm, she joined our team at Gunderson Capital.

In her spare time, Jennifer loves being with her family, which includes her husband of 25 years, her two sons, and three grandchildren. She enjoys taking the family on camping trips to the mountains and annual beach vacations.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Edye Kates joined Gunderson Capital Management in September of 2018, bringing over two decades of experience as a client relations and service industry provider.

As the firm’s Financial Services Specialist, Edye is typically the first point of contact and an internal resource for those interested in working with Gunderson Capital Management.  She schedules client appointments, workshop registrations, and supports those who would like to know more about our products and services.

Edye earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Arizona University and spent the early part of her career in the marketing and advertising sector.

In 2000 Edye and her husband started an outdoor mobile advertising business where she was able to demonstrate her expertise in marketing, project management, accounting, and vendor relations. Although no longer involved in the day-to-day activities, she gained a profound insight into the value of the customer relationship and experience.

Edye and her husband Jeff reside in Scottsdale, Arizona with their three beautiful children, Dalton, Alyssa, and Jeremy.  She enjoys yoga classes, DIY projects, and creating memories with her family and friends.

SENIOR CLIENT SERVICES MANAGER

As Client Service Manager, Sandy assists clients with the process of opening an account and executing account transfers. She ensures that this process is efficient and accurate. She also takes care of requests for fund transfers (deposits/withdrawals).

Sandy has 20 years of experience, including six years at Merrill Lynch and three at RG Capital, as well as time at Zigler, Stiefel, and Mass. She holds a Series 7 & 63 License in Financial Securities.

She enjoys being a mom, and at church, Sandy has volunteered as a Sunday School teacher for 14 years. She likes fixing and creating things; working with her hands helps her relax. She especially loves art, hockey, and hiking.

Vice President

Since joining Gunderson Capital Management in May 2024 as Vice President, Jeff leads all business development and client management responsibilities within the organization. His knowledge comes from more than three decades in the technology sector, which includes experience in both publicly traded and private equity-based organizations. During his tenure he has assisted Corporate clients with solutions to facilitate SEC Compliance and Reporting, as well as developed a keen understanding of employee-based equity compensation and stock purchase plans.

Jeff is a graduate of California Polytechnic University. In his free time he enjoys playing competitive pickleball and traveling with his wife.

CUSTOMER SERVICE, VIDEO TECHNICIAN/EDITOR

As Gunderson Capital’s Customer Service Representative, Ed facilitates a great customer experience. He manages subscriptions and makes sure that all of our clients and subscribers receive the newsletter. Ed is also our audio and video technician. He has been with Gunderson Capital since 2012.

Ed received a degree in Graphic Arts and Web Design from Cal State San Marcos University. He has been a California-licensed C35 contractor since 1976, and a member of the CREIA (California Real Estate Inspection Association) since 1997.

Ed loves classic cars. He is a member of a car club that raises funds and volunteers in providing meals to military families. He lives in California with his wife, Candice.
